Our whole site is wheelchair and mobility-scooter friendly. You'll find ramp access at the Hastings Street entrance.
Street parking is on Southampton Street South and Hastings Street. There is also disability parking beside the Hastings Street entrance.
You're welcome to bring your own food and drink when you visit. Pack a picnic and enjoy it in our gardens. Quench your thirst at the drinking fountain outside Te Whare Waiaroha (no food or drink allowed inside).
There is no food for sale at Waiaroha but you'll find lots of places to eat around the corner along Heretaunga Street.
Waiaroha has public toilets available.
Our outdoor space takes you on a journey from mountains to sea. Follow the colourful panels and touch, turn, lift and slide to learn about our water. See inside the drinking water treatment plant along the way.
Pump, spray and twist water at our hands-on water features.
Te Whare Waiaroha, our indoor discovery centre, is full of games and activities for all ages. Chill with a storybook or watch a film if you need a break from all the action.
We'd love to host your class at Waiaroha.
